Good-Bye Honeysuckle Bush

I loved our Honeysuckle Bush that hung over our fence. The boys loved it for shade in the summertime, I loved the smell. It was great for privacy. We finally had to cut it down. It died. Our neighbor Carlos killed it.

A couple of months ago he asked if he could build a garden behind our fence. He showed a small 2 ft by 5ft area, Tony said he could initially. This was a big mistake. Between our fence and the neighbor behind us there is a 5 foot easement that I left when I got the fence built for Lennox. We have power lines and I thought it was better to leave this area open. I heard horror stories of fences getting torn down and dogs in the back yard getting let out so they could work on the lines. So I had the builders leave an easement. So fast forward 4 years and lots of 'weeds'/bushes growing over the fence and Carlos wanting to have a garden. Why in our yard, I don't know. Well, Carlos doesn't like dogs and had told me specifically he doesn't not like Pit Bulls bc of their bad image.(ugh, I'm sick of hearing that) When his girls ask to pet our dogs he responds that "Those dogs aren't petting dogs" Ok so if you know me, I'm VERY sensitive about my dogs! VERY..Well I try to educate him about our dogs ALL THE TIME. I try to tell him that his girls need to be exposed to dogs. Our dogs bark, bark, bark all the time at Carlos when he is behind our fence. Dogs, know you don't like them and I had to tell him that one day. I also went off that he is discriminating against their breed and how would he like that? That's another story..I know I'm crazy. Ok, so I got off subject, back to the bush. While cleaning out the easement for his 'garden' he cleans out about 20 feet and starts killing the honeysuckle bushes that hang over our fence. So no more shade, good smells or privacy for that matter! Oh my gosh, so now Tony has to go tell him, no more garden and stay outta our backyard. The dogs bark nonstop when he was back there and now all the honeysuckle is gone :( Dreams of a garden are crushed..heck do it in your own yard if you ask me.....
So I had Tony cut it down, it drove me NUTS looking at this dead bush! So Lennox and Lane decided to help..Lane is more of an Outdoorsman than Lennox.

\9WOW - my mommy is just like you - she gets so upset and even when she knows she isnt going to win she fights for us - we are in the same boat with the bad dog stigma - and it is all crap!!! She even has me do my good dog routine - but even that doesnt work sometimes.

but most of the families love us and all the kids think we are great.

sorry about your honeysuckle bush

You probably handled that in a much nicer way than I would have. You were nice enough to let him use the space, and he acts an ass about your dogs. Nope, no more garden for you sir!

Eh, just sic the dogs on him ;)

J/k. Seriously, it was nice of you to let him use the land. He can't build a garden in his own yard? If he didn't want it in his yard, why would you want it in yours?? Too bad about the bush :(

No kidding! Why won't he just put a garden in his own yard? I guess bc he doenst have a fence, he can go behind ours easily and that land of ours is just there..oh well its over, we havent heard about it anymore and we still get friendly waves when we drive by...
