Tyler Smith dismissed

I cannot STAND it when people are given an amazing opportunity, and squander it with a bad decision. I know he is young and it is obvious that my alma matre needs help with mentoring these student athletes, but these guys also need to understand what an opportunity they just WASTED. So disappointing....and coming off a HUGE win at Memphis. So embarrassing...

Well we got one!

Happy 2010...we got one win for the Vols yesterday...and it was pretty important for me and Tony who have to always here the trash talk from the Memphis fans. So we beat you in both sports this year Tiger fans..BOTH. But too bad we couldnt have a double/doulbe and win the ChickfilA Peach bowl. We could only play one half I guess. And now some crazy gun charges for the bball guys in Knoxville...ugh I hope this is a mistake!

Beat the Tigers and the Hokies!!

So we are in Atlanta for NYE, not going to the Peach Bowl, but we are here in all the orange cheering for the Vols today to beat Memphis in basketball and the Virginia Tech in the Chickfila Peach Bowl. We are going to Neisha and Peerless's NYE celebration so we have to miss going to the game, but went to the team hotel last night and hung out with a lot of our friends. Go VOLS x 2 today!!!

Big Orange Caravan with Coaches Kiffin and Pearl

Tuesday night Kelly, Tony and I attended the Big Orange Caravan at the Hilton Memphis. Tony and I got there early to get a good table and to officially meet Coach Kiffin. He was very nice and charming in person. It still blows my mind that he is only 1 year older than me. I know age doesn't matter, bc growing up with a dad that was a coach, he got more experience than he needs, but still I feel old!

We got to see Mark Ingram and John Currie too. I used to work with them back in my VASF days in college. John used to pick on me alot about my wardrobe choices, but heck I was in college of course I didn't know better than to wear the shortest dresses and skirts to work! :) He always suggested that I shop at the GAP, so I assured him that night I was in Banana Republic for this event.
Ran into Coach Pearl as well. He has the most animated personality of anyone that I have ever met. He has a great memory too bc I have met him two other times. During his session of the Caravan he told so many Memphis jokes, the crowd was loving it and yes, he did his "It's Great to be a Tennessee Volunteer" rap! He said he goes by Jew-Z on campus now.
We also ran into Union City's finest Mark Griffin. I used to see him a lot when I was in school and on vacations, but it had been years. He was in town for work and happened to come by for this event. This is for Kelly's brother Will who is the President of Mark Griffin's fan club!
Of course there was a silent auction and I bought a ton of stuff! But let me tell you, I am all set for a game at our house or tailgating, platters, bowls, napkins, cups, and wine! GO VOLS!

The Rebels got us, but the bus trip was still fun!

Shannon, Andrea, Brett, Tony and I joined the UT Alumni Association on a bus trip to Oxford, MS to see the Vols play the Rebels. We had a really fun time meeting the other alums on the bus. The game wasn't so great since the Vols lost, but it was cool to be in another SEC arena, although it needed some upgrades. I'm looking forward to doing more with the Memphis Chapter of this group. Go Vols!

Go Tigers!?!?

Wednesday night we went to Ole Miss to see our Vols loose brutally to the Rebels, and tonight we have floor seats to see the Grizzlies and Kings. I can't wait. So I've seen lots of basketball recently, not mentioning Tony on the XBox NBA 2K.  But since I'm behind on posting, I'm talking Tigers. Well, Kelly and I went to my second Memphis Tigers basketball game ever last week. My friend Brett has hooked me up both times. Thanks Brett! He has suite tickets as well as the most amazing 2nd row from the floor seats. Gotta appreciate good seats no matter who is playing. Well last week we attended the Tulsa game and had a really fun time. Kelly and I were so amazed at how fun it is to watch two teams that you aren't really into when you have great seats. Well Kelly is a Tigers fan, I just try to support them, but have only ONE college team I follow, my Vols! I guess I'm glad when the Tigers do well, except against my Vols. Well of course I got some great shots at the game, so I am sharing. These seats would make any Tiger fan jealous...so this post is for Sean, the biggest Tiger fan I know..Thanks again Brett!!
