Did you print your FREE KFC Coupon?

You know, from Oprah...must do it by midnight tonight..of course I have mine ready to use. I LOVE that so many places are giving away free food...I love food.

The Commercial Appeal left me a comment on my last post about the no grilled chicken in Memphis. I called them and gave them some quotes for their article. But I guess I was uninteresting, bc I didn't make it in. Oh well....atleast KFC has made some changes..I need to go see if Cordova is offering the grilled now...I want my grilled chicken!

Free Burger Friday and I got my car back!

After Jazzercise and Coffee on Friday I got my FREE burger at Back Yard Burger. All I had to do was get in line, and they handed me a ticket, I was #92 around 11am, and order my burger. I have been mad a BYB, but I'm not missing out on free food! That burger was delicious!
I got a call that my car was fixed and ready! For some reason as I was cleaning out my stuff out of the rental car Lennox and Lane wanted to hang out in the car. They love going for 'rides in the car..sometimes I can't get them out. It's really more Lennox than Lane, I used to go to Knoxville so much to see Tony he got used to it, I think Lane does it to be like Lennox.
Problem is...Lane sheds and his white hair on the black seats didn't make the manager at Hertz in Lakeland very happy. Yes, he's a UT Grad and still wanted to charge me $100 for a detailing fee for Lane's hairs on the seat. I tried to work the UT angle, but it didnt work. I have my corporate account with Avis and they have NEVER tried to charge me for anything like this. So I was going to use the vacuum at Memphis Collision before they dropped me off, but the nice guy who drove me said he was not going to worry about it and just send it the the airport. Oh, the UT Grad manager at Hertz was in the band...hmmmmm..maybe that explains it.
My car looks great! Way better than before!! They even detailed it before giving it back to me!
That night we grilled out and Randy and Diane came over and Ben and his wife Jessica. This was our first time meeting Jessica who just got in from Peru.
Everyone loves to get their pictures made with Lennox and Lane who are Cordova Celebrities!

Dining out for AIDS/HIV at The Kitchen

Kelly and I went and checked out The Kitchen on Thursday night. They were participating in the Friends for Life Charity and we wanted to try it. It was a little odd going in bc it is in the old Caspian spot and I was at Caspian all the time, dancing, eating, hookah-ing. They changed the decor a little bit, mainly the lighting and some new bar cushions. They have all local artwork on the walls that is for sale, and at good prices I might add. I didn't take any pictures, I don't know what was wrong with me!?! Kelly ordered the shrimp cakes and loved them. I ordered the pulled chicken salad and didn't like it. It wasn't what I had in mind at all. It was an oil, chicken, onion, peppers, and dressing mix on top of salad greens. I took a bite and had to send it back. I COULD have eaten it and picked around at it, but since the place was new and the menu was amazing I wanted to try something good and that I wanted to eat. So I got the smoked ham and gruyere cheese  panini with dijon mustard and a side of basmati rice. The panini was amazing, I ate every single bite of it. It was only $7 too. The rice was pretty good, and I am an expert, heck I am Persian! I wish I had some sumac in my purse to sprinkle on it. I don't think anything on the menu was over $20. The wine list was good and at around $6.50 for almost all the glasses, I thought it was a great deal. We had great service, a fellow UT Alum and dog lover. Ask for Chrissy when you go.

Big Orange Caravan with Coaches Kiffin and Pearl

Tuesday night Kelly, Tony and I attended the Big Orange Caravan at the Hilton Memphis. Tony and I got there early to get a good table and to officially meet Coach Kiffin. He was very nice and charming in person. It still blows my mind that he is only 1 year older than me. I know age doesn't matter, bc growing up with a dad that was a coach, he got more experience than he needs, but still I feel old!

We got to see Mark Ingram and John Currie too. I used to work with them back in my VASF days in college. John used to pick on me alot about my wardrobe choices, but heck I was in college of course I didn't know better than to wear the shortest dresses and skirts to work! :) He always suggested that I shop at the GAP, so I assured him that night I was in Banana Republic for this event.
Ran into Coach Pearl as well. He has the most animated personality of anyone that I have ever met. He has a great memory too bc I have met him two other times. During his session of the Caravan he told so many Memphis jokes, the crowd was loving it and yes, he did his "It's Great to be a Tennessee Volunteer" rap! He said he goes by Jew-Z on campus now.
We also ran into Union City's finest Mark Griffin. I used to see him a lot when I was in school and on vacations, but it had been years. He was in town for work and happened to come by for this event. This is for Kelly's brother Will who is the President of Mark Griffin's fan club!
Of course there was a silent auction and I bought a ton of stuff! But let me tell you, I am all set for a game at our house or tailgating, platters, bowls, napkins, cups, and wine! GO VOLS!

Pacquiao George

Saturday was a busy day, but I love busy days, so it was fun for me. The night ended with us at the Fox and Hound watching the Hatton/Pacquiao fight. I love boxing and really like how HBO lets you get a little into the personal lives of the boxers with their 24/7 series. I was favoring Pacquiao and so was Tony, but we really weren't into taking up Shannon on any of his bets, but Greg came up with one and Shannon took it. Julie and Greg had to name their first born Hatton or Ricky if he won and Shannon and Andrea had to name theirs Manny or Pacquiao. Yes, these are the type of things that happen when alcohol is involved. So Pacquiao kicked Hatton's ass, so Andrea and Shannon will have a Pacquiao George one day. That will be interesting explaining that one when he's old enough..

I have been wanting to see State of Play, so we went Saturday afternoon. It was one of the best movies I have seen since all the Oscar nominee movies. The cast is stacked, Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Helen Mirren, Viola Davis..and it goes on and on..Lots of suspense, lots of action..go see this movie.

After the movie, I was a little late to Jessica's shower. It was a full 2 hours not what they told me at Malco. The shower was fun and I got to eat some great food. The hostesses did a wonderful job with the food and gorgeous flower decorations. Jessica got a lot of cute things for Baby Orians, I made sure she got some orange, but I think she got more Memphis blue. I had to be the last guest to leave, bc I had to catch the Kentucky Derby. It forsure is one of the best sporting events on TV. Its a quick one too. It was so exciting to see Mine that Bird come out of NO WHERE!

Andrea and I met Kim, Christy and Kennedy at Rain for an early dinner after Jessica's Shower. Kennedy has gotten so big! She napped for the most of dinner, then woke up after we ate, I don't think she liked my flash very much because she kept making these faces, that I thought were adorable. Kim said they were her "Jason Faces". I love getting to see Kim and Kennedy when they are in town, and bonus I get to see Christy too, even though she lives here, we need to get together more :) Rain has happy hour every day from 5-7. $5 Menage-a-Trois wine and $2 domestic beers. We left around 7:30 and it was packed in there.
