Hmmmm...wonder if we should adopt a campaign like this!? It might work..worth a try as long as cats and dogs are getting fixed!

Stupendous SpayTacular

Wow, so The MidSouth Spay and Neuter Services SpayTacular was a great event raising so much money to keep low cost spays and neuters available in our area. A record amount of money was raised and I really want to thank my friends who helped support this event by attend and donating!! It REALLY means a lot to me to have support from my friends on something that really means a lot to me. With all the craziness we have had in the past month finding out all the horrible things being done at Memphis Animal Services (The Pound), it is just more and more important for pets to be 'fixed' and its wonderful we have a place that offers this at a low cost. So.....Thank you to Carlos from Folks Folly, Regina from Jazzercise, Chris and Winter from Platinum Jewelers, Julie from Cake Couture and Randy and Diane for their donations and contributions. And my fabulous friends (pictured below in our 'Mafia' Family photo) Shannon and Andrea, Ernie and Jennifer, Tony (my love), Greg and Julie, Tami and Matt, and Kelly. And to Loren who was bidding on the silent auction from Chicago! Thank you so much all of you I am thrilled to have the support. Barbara Standing was the chair of the event and did an amazing job, so hats off to her as well. She wrote a great article that featured a picture of Julie and I in the Commercial Appeal and Shannon was sweet and took a lot of pictures that afternoon as well.

SPAYtacular Reminder

Remember we have to help those who can't afford to fix their pets, so there won't be so many to take the shelter. By offering low cost spay and neutering, this can be done. If you attend this party, like so many of my wonderful friends that already bought tickets and donated items (Andrea, Shannon, Jennifer, Ernie, Greg, Julie, Kelly, Winter, Carlos, Randy, Diane, Regina and Tony) we can decrease the amount of animals euthanized in our shelters...Party for a cause! Please attend or leave me a message if you have questions!!

Spaytacular 2009

Please support this event to benefit Mid South Spay Neuter Services. The ONLY low cost spay neuter clinic in the Mid South. The more pets that are 'fixed' the less homeless dogs and cats on the street and those emails that we all get for puppies/kittens that need homes. MSNS is really trying to reach out to those that cannot afford to fix their pets to help solve some of the problem in the Mid South.

This got postponed due to bad weather last time..this is going to be a great event with gorgeous weather on Sunday...please come out and support it!! 

Only one Mayoral Candidate..

So my report on the meeting Monday night is kinda, well..blah..only one Mayoral candidate came, Carol Chumney, and she came at the end of the meeting. She filled out a survey ACT (Animal Cruelty Taskforce) had given her and she checked, 'yes' on all boxes, basically stating she is concerned about the animals in the community. But no speech, nothing really..she did had out some info and gave us signs if we wanted them.

Deb Merino gave an awesome speech on Mid South Spay Neuter Services, that I am a part of now: :) Just giving the facts of how important it is to get all animals 'fixed'. 14,000 animals were put down at Memphis Animal Services last year. 14,000 too many. The ONLY way this number is going to go down is to get out in the community and spreading the word that there is a clinic that does it for cheap, under $70 cheap. And for those that can't pay that much, there are options for them, there are Grants paying for certain surgeries, etc. 

So while I didn't learn about any of the candidates, I learned more and more about getting out there and getting pets 'fixed' and controlling the pet population.

I am involved with Mid-South Spay Neuter now and they are having a dog/kid friendly event on Sunday from 3-6pm at Dog's Rule (2265 Central Avenue).  $20 includes your donation, food, drink and beer if you like. This is a wonderful organization that does low cost spay and neuters for all dogs and cats in the area. Please support this organization if you can!
