Flemings Leg of the Wine Race

We came out to support Brett and his two time winning Wine Race team on Sunday. They were in the first heat and Brett was the anchor. Spindini was ahead about 2 feet after Flemings had a rough start with a broken cork in their first bottle. Brett tried to be the hero, not settling for 2nd place and ran to the finish line..

Yep and that was the end of it...sorry Brett, there is always next year! Spindini ended up winning the entire thing!

Stupendous SpayTacular

Wow, so The MidSouth Spay and Neuter Services SpayTacular was a great event raising so much money to keep low cost spays and neuters available in our area. A record amount of money was raised and I really want to thank my friends who helped support this event by attend and donating!! It REALLY means a lot to me to have support from my friends on something that really means a lot to me. With all the craziness we have had in the past month finding out all the horrible things being done at Memphis Animal Services (The Pound), it is just more and more important for pets to be 'fixed' and its wonderful we have a place that offers this at a low cost. So.....Thank you to Carlos from Folks Folly, Regina from Jazzercise, Chris and Winter from Platinum Jewelers, Julie from Cake Couture and Randy and Diane for their donations and contributions. And my fabulous friends (pictured below in our 'Mafia' Family photo) Shannon and Andrea, Ernie and Jennifer, Tony (my love), Greg and Julie, Tami and Matt, and Kelly. And to Loren who was bidding on the silent auction from Chicago! Thank you so much all of you I am thrilled to have the support. Barbara Standing was the chair of the event and did an amazing job, so hats off to her as well. She wrote a great article that featured a picture of Julie and I in the Commercial Appeal and Shannon was sweet and took a lot of pictures that afternoon as well.

Didn't have a winning bid on any dog houses...

We attended Barkitecture with Brooke and Ray at Woodland Hills a couple Friday's ago. It was a great event that focused on a Dog House Auction as well as an amazing silent auction to benefit the Golden Retriever Rescue and the Weimaraner Rescue. We got to vote on our favorite dog house then bid on them in a live auction. We didn't go there wanting or expecting to get a dog house, our dogs are inside (in our bed) dogs and there was no need. But after looking at how cool they were, we decided we wanted one. Well I decided and Tony gave me a limit. They auctioned off about 12 houses and the 2 I focused on went above my limit. The others didn't but I really liked these 2 and they were close to the end, so we didn't end up with one. But one of the builders was there and we got his card so maybe there is a cool modern dog 'playhouse' as I would call it for Lennox and Lane in the future.

The builder of this one that I loved.

Cole, one of the dogs in foster care that attended the event.

Ray and Brooke, I loved that they supported this event and don't even have a pet :)

At our table

We got this 26" TV, 3 private dog training sessions at our house (much needed with the new house), and a year of home baked dog treats to come each month! I love getting good stuff at auctions, especially when it helps a good cause like these doggies!!

Jazzercise Race for the Cure pictures...yes I ran with a camera..

With Belinda before the race and Belinda with her daughter Catherine. We are all ready to run with a record 16,000 people!!!

After the race I posed with the Wizard of Oz crew from the Memphis Ballet. They had the greatest costumes, I wish I woulda gone and seen it!! We looked everywhere for the rest of the Jazzercise group with no luck!

The Legend of the Mollies

So on Halloween Eve we went to the Historic Woodruff-Fontaine house. Pulling up Mollie Fontaine's Lounge was already creepy looking enough. This paranormal company stayed at the house recording all the paranormal activity going on there and decided to give an account on Halloween Eve and we were totally up for it. They set up recorders and asked the ghosts questions trying to get them to speak. Apparently after this set of Victorian homes in the 1800's were left and abandoned an art school took them over and the students used to see and hear ghosts. So this company wanted to investigate and see what they could find. But there is some back history to it all. This is what I remember of the hour presentation so forgive me if the details are fuzzy. (Julie and Kelly..leave me a comment if it isn't correct!) So the first owners were the Woodruff family and they had a daughter named Mollie. Well Mollie had a lot of heartache early loosing her baby to fever days after it was born. Months after that, he husband died in a freak accident. She later moved out and remarried and lost another child in that house. So Mollie haunts this house. They have heard her and apparently she sits on her bed and you can see the imprint on the sheets. The paranormal experts played the sound but you could barely make out what they were. They would kinda tell you what they were saying so you could make it out. I think they say her first husband haunts it as well, and I think they asked him "Is anyone here?" and you could hear a 'no' faintly. Later on after the Woodruff's sold the house to the Fontaine's and they built the house across the street for their daughter Mollie where the Lounge is currently.

I captured a picture of a ghost..hehehe

Walking into the house

Julie and Greg with ghosts all around..Greg is already scared.

Chris, Kelly (scared face on) and me ready to start the tour

They had these mannequins set up in period costumes looking kinda creepy if you ask me.

Kelly calling Mollie

Cool headboard

More creepy mannequins, the guy here is channelling George Hamilton.

Kelly and Chris paid extra for the VIP wine and cheese after the tour. Julie, Greg and I had to wait behind the velvet ropes.

Feed the Soul

What a wonderful event we attended last week. Our neighbors across the street Jennifer and Carlos were on the host committee for this MIFA event,  and we bought our tickets from them. Well the event was well worth it with good drinks and amazing food. Gus's Fried Chicken and Soul Burgers were my favorite, no cheese and crackers here! We ate plenty and danced the night away with Raiford and his daughter Paula. MIFA put on one of the best fund raisers that I have been to!

Mayor AC Warton got in a picture with us while Paula Raiford was walking by and she said that she didn't miss getting in pictures, so hopped in this one with the mayor...kinda an odd bunch wouldn't you say? Like the first lady of the city, huh? First lady of booty shakin' I think..

How crazy was it that Deon and Jennifer Brown were at the party with Deon's sister Kim? I have know Deon and Jennifer since high school in Knoxville. What a small world to see them there are this event.

The dancefloor!

The end of the night..

So we are driving down Peabody and see Ced at the ATM. How crazy is this? Of course I have to hop out and give him a hard time for being MIA lately!!

And in my usual way, I got a picture with Laners when we got home! I don't know Lennox was! Hiding and not wanting to be bothered by my loud self, I'm sure!
