Women's Run Program

This was a couple of weeks ago, but I still wanted to post about an excellent program that the Memphis Runners do for women in Memphis. I am a very casual runner, I actually don't like doing it, it is VERY rare that I go out on my own and just run. The only time this happens is when I am really desperate to lose a couple of pounds and I'm sure it will be happening all the time next spring and summer before the wedding! But the program that Memphis Runners puts on is excellent. It starts in the summer and goes for 8 weeks, commencing with a 5k. Several of the women are beginners and have never walked or ran a 5k. I always improve my time a little from what I had been running, only to slack a little in the winter, nonetheless, it gets my butt out there to run on Mondays in the hot Memphis heat!  I think it is wonderful to promote exercise and Belinda and I completed the run, that is us above and when I got home I got the best welcome from my boys!!

Jazzing It Off on the Amazing Race

I've been meaning to post about this, while I work on more Trot for Spot pictures..So both places I work out at had exercise promotions going on. Jazzercise had an eight week program where we weighed in each week and whomever lost the biggest percentage of their weight won a free month's dues. The winner lost 11%, I came in second losing 7% of my body weight and got a gift card for Jazzercise merchandise. I lost around 10 lbs and sure needed to after gaining back my 8 lbs I lost in 'Lose 8 Feel Great' back in December. It is crazy to me how fast you can gain weight. 10 lbs is so easy to put on, but so hard to take off. Now that I have lost it, I think I need to lose another 3-5 lbs. Everyone is always talking about losing weight, but I think you have to have some goal in mind. My main goal is to look good in a bikini and not having to 'suck in' all the time. One of Tony's Seattle teammates named it best with the term 'hangover'. Yes hangover refers to what hangs over a girl's pants or panties for that matter.I don't want ANY hangover!! I could care less about a number on a scale as long as I don't have to hold in my tummy all the time. That's my main goal, so another 3 lbs will sure help. Isn't it terrible that you have to lose 'all over' to make a dent where you want to? I'm really working at getting toned up and in good 'heart' health. I love my workout routine right now, I think I mix it up a lot with a combo of Jazzercise, BootCamp, Trekking and Coreball. I'm working on adding a Pilates or PiYo (Pilates/Yoga-new at CAC)...The Amazing Race at Cordova Athletic Club had me trying some new classes. The point of it was to do 20 classes in 14 days. I sure did it and didn't miss out on my Jazzercise classes that didn't count. So I did 28 classes in 14 days ;) After completing them I realize that I do about 10-11 each week!! Yep and I'm still not wasting away or anything....

CAC's Amazing Race

Not only do I Jazzercise, but I also am a member of Cordova Athletic Club. It is a great gym! I did the Lose 8 Feel Great when I first joined and won some cash. The latest promotion is The Amazing Race. It is $10 for members and $20 for non-members. You can register now at the Cordova Athletic Club and the Race begins on April 18 through May 2nd.

Complete 20 classes in 14 days (2 classes max per day)

Fill out a card after class

Track your progress on the map

Check winers board daily for prizes

Grand Prize Free Day Spa Package for Two!

So everyone that comes that is a non-member and signs up for the race, I get an extra time in the daily drawing. I think its a great deal to jump start your workout plan even if you can't come to 20 classes. Its usually $10 to just come use the gym for the day for a non-member. I plan on making it to all 20 classes..This is the current schedule of classes. My favorites are Trekking, Boot Camp and Core Ball. Let me know if you wanna join me on this great Race!

Lose 8 Feel Great!

Ok, so Tony came home a couple weeks ago and informed me that we joined the Cordova Athletic Club. We had toured it a couple of months ago, but were undecided. But I guess Tony just felt like we needed to join so he did for a year for the both of us. I used to sell memberships at the best club in Knoxville, so all the joining up/orientation stuff brought some memories back. Like the front desk..only one person works behind this desk instead of 2 to 3 of us that did back at FSHFC. We used to have so much fun folding towels and chatting with the members. Well I thought I should see where I was at. I took the fitness evaluation and was shocked. I had gained about six pounds since this summer. I Jazzercise and besides running and doing 5k's that's all I've been doing. Prior to that a group of us were working out a D1, but when our trainers all left, from Tony, to Matt, then Mike, we all quit going.  So I guess stopping that has made me gain some lbs!! So I hope working out here I can lose a few. I actually signed up for their promotion to lose 8 pounds by December 1. This is how it works, I pay $20 and as long as I lose 8 lbs by the deadline (Dec 1) I get my money back, plus anyone else's that didn't complete the program divided by those who finished. So wish me luck! I'm going to keep on Jazzercising and doing classes at the Cordova Athletic Club at night and running when I can. My goal is actually to lose 10 lbs by December 1st, so 5lbs in October and 5lbs in November..Now if I could only learn to eat right!
